Arcotechniques has been developing a breakthrough technique for harvesting infrared radiation throughout day and night. This can greatly enhance the energy conversion efficiency of current photovoltaic (PV) technology.

Sunlight impinging  on Earth for one hour could provide the entire planet’s energy needs for a whole year. Earth absorbs only a portion of the energy from sunlight and reflects back most of it as infrared waves. This energy cannot be absorbed efficiently by current PV technologies because of their limited bandgap.

We have advanced a solution which avoids this drawback and can collect energy from the infrared region of the spectrum pushing the efficiency of our panels to 97%.
